Why Me God?

From Elder Michael

Why do "Bad" things happen to us? There are a number of reasons that I would like to explore. First off, there was Adam and Eve. (I know, they always get the bad rap.) They did not know good from bad. They had no concept of bad.

I don't think that they could be grateful for what we see as the good life because they had nothing to compare it with, having no experience with bad. When they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they then experienced the bad life and regretted their choiceSo, now we experience both good and bad, and we can the difference.

Isaiah 7:15 tells us that Jesus would have to learn to refuse the evil and choose the good. Jesus also said that "in the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." In Revelation, there are many blessings to those who overcome their trials.

While sin is the root of the problem, not every problem is related to a particular sin. Sometimes we go through a trial so that we can help others who suffer from the same thing.

2 Corinthians 1:6, "And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation."

2 Corinthians 1:4, "Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

2 Corinthians 10:5-6, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.”

When we are delivered from any problem, we are to retaliate by helping others who are dealing with the same thing. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to help others going through the same thing that you have been through.
