My Mouth Shall Show Forth Your Praise
From Pastor Tim
Psalm 51:14-15
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, And my mouth shall show forth Your praise.
David saw Bathsheba on a rooftop bathing and sent his messengers to bring her to him, and he slept with her. Bathsheba becomes pregnant and then David has her husband Uriah killed in battle.
The Psalm above is from the heart of David after Nathan the prophet comes and tells him his sin. Deliver means to snatch away, escape, rescue. David recognizes his sin and is willing to go to the One who can deliver him from his horrible past. David knew that with his guilt dealt with before God, he would again be able to sing aloud.
This passage indicates that if you are struggling with past sin, it is difficult to praise the Lord, but if you go to the One who can truly deliver you, no one will be able to shut you up. I pray that we be a people who will open our mouths and show forth the Lord’s praise.
Love,
Tim
