When God Uses Your Mouth
From Pastor Shemalya King
“For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.” Matthew 10:20
Jesus called His twelve disciples before Him and gave each of them power over unclean spirits, sending them to the lost sheep of Israel. Before they departed, He gave them instructions: what the mission would be like, where to go, what to preach, what to do, what to take, and where to lodge (discerning where they should lodge). All these things would be initiated by them empowered by the Spirit. (Read Matthew 10:1-18)
They had power (for sure) to do fierce things, but they would have adversaries. They were sent like sheep among wolves. Sheep are 100% dependent. Naturally, the disciples would appear to be alone (without the Shepherd), but they would not be alone. The Shepherd would be with them. The evidence of the Shepherd's presence would be His speaking for them. They would be delivered to councils (before governors and kings), and during these times, they would experience worry (not knowing what to do or to say). However, He instructed them not to worry because He would speak for them–using their mouth (Matthew 10:17-20).
Though it's HARD to imagine someone else speaking through your mouth, these things happen with God. They didn't have to think about what to say and they didn't have to repeat what they heard. God was going to open their mouth and begin talking. Like the disciples, when God calls you to a task or an office, He anoints you with power. You will surely do great things. You will also have adversaries. You must trust that when worry comes upon you, Jesus (the Shepherd) will speak for you. In your greatest trial and weakness, He will show up and speak. Think it not strange when your mouth moves and you're not authorizing it.
With God ALL things ARE possible.
